Viscosity of alumina doped soda lime silicate glasses – observation of anomaly in the linear increase as Al2O3 replaces SiO2

چکیده
Adding alumina to the conventional soda lime silicate glass composition improves many properties, however, also increases melting temperature. In current paper, doping of glasses and its implications high temperature viscosity are investigated in order verify linearity when replacing SiO2 for Al2O3. An anomaly linearly increasing was found ratio CaO/Al2O3 is <1, which explained by Ca2+ acting as an inhibitor viscous flow. The Angell Rao Waterton-MYEGA models show very similar results, even extrapolated Tg. Thermodynamic data extracted using Ojovan method generally with Al2O3 content. Doremus fragility index shows a deviation while on other hand linear increase

Photoluminescence of atomic gold and silver particles in soda-lime silicate glasses.
We report the chemistry and photophysics of atomic gold and silver particles in inorganic glasses. By synchrotron irradiation of gold-doped soda-lime silicate glasses we could create and identify unambiguously the gold dimer as a stable and bright luminescing particle embedded in the glassy matrix. The gold dimer spectra coincide perfectly with rare gas matrix spectra of Au(2). The glass matrix...
متن کاملTrends in Effective Diffusion Coefficients for Ion-Exchange Strengthening of Soda-Lime-Silicate Glasses
Monovalent cations enable efficient ion-exchange processes due to their high mobility in silicate glasses. Numerous properties can be modified in this way, e.g., mechanical, optical, electrical, or chemical performance. In particular, alkali cation exchange has received significant attention, primarily with respect to introducing compressive stress into the surface region of a glass, which incr...
متن کاملStructure and topology of soda-lime silicate glasses: implications for window glass.
The structural and topological properties of soda-lime silicate glasses of the form (1-2x)SiO2-xNa2O-xCaO are studied from classical molecular dynamics using a Buckingham type potential. Focus is made on three compositions (x = 6%, 12%, and 18%) which are either silica-rich or modifier-rich. We compare the results to available experimental measurements on structural properties and find that the...
متن کاملViscosity and diffusion of barium and fluoride in Na2O/K2O/Al2O3/SiO2/BaF2 glasses
The interdiffusion coefficients of barium and fluoride in glasses, in the system Na2O/K2O/Al2O3/SiO2 with BaF2 additions, were determined from the diffusion profiles using energy dispersive X-ray analysis in a scanning electron microscope. The diffusivities were in agreement with Arrhenius-equation. Diffusion coefficients of fluoride were in the range from 4.5 10 15 m s 1 to 30 10 15 m s 1 at 5...
متن کاملNumerical Simulation of Soda-Lime Silicate Glass Tempering
The paper deals with the computation of residual and transient stresses in a tempered glass plate. The modelling takes into account the viscoelastic behavior and the structural relaxation of glass. The evolution of stresses with time during the rapid cooling is computed. Simulation results are compared with experimental ones from the literature available. Levels of transient tensile stress in t...
